Ann sends her regrets

Ann had a great start to her visit. Beautiful weather, going out with people, swimming, even seeing a Daisy lookalike. Unfortunately, however, the island's internet cafe (which has another Daisy lookalike), has closed for a week or so and Ann might be out of contact. She's going hunting for alternatives, but it's a small island! So we'll have to wait and see.

  1. Hi Ann

We received your postcard from Edinburgh this morning - thanks very much! An amazing view, which I hadn't seen before; really looks like a burgh!! Thanks too for resisting a little Loch Ness monster and bagpipe torture!!!

Enjoy the peace and good weather. We're off to Wgtn. tomorrow - back on the 25th, hopefully see something of you both that wkend...?

    Love

    Julia

  2. Dear Ann,

great to hear you've made it to Skopelos and been enjoying beautiful weather. What a treat to be swimming in the lovely Aegean Sea, a tad warmer than Cheltenham's Pacific coastline I'm sure. I guess you're having a super time catching up with all your friends, lots of lunch and dinner dates at the local cafes and restaurants no doubt. And fancy seeing not one but two Daisy lookalikes, can I put my order in for one????
Sorry the the internet cafe is out of action, but at least we're able to get some of your news through Rob so all is not lost.

Daisy has been here for the day and now she has finished her dinner she is lying behind the sofa looking down the hall and keeping an eye out for the return of Rob. I have the door open so I'm sure she'll alert us the minute he arrives at the gate.
Earlier today she had the pleasure of coming with us to 'Nose to Tail' for Lucy's first session in the hydrotherapy pool. It went really well. She was kitted up in a floatation vest and then it was into the pool for a bit of weight free exercise for her wee legs. She was very brave and didn't panic at all, which was probably due to Daisy lending her support at the very end of her extended lead!! She swam really well for a girl whose never actually been swimming. Then it was over to the washing cubicles for a lather up and a blow dry, all of which she accepted really well for a novice. Once again Daisy leant her support by going outside with Vaughan for a cigarette!! So it was a very successful venture and she has now got a 'Hydrotherapy Concession Card' for 10 visits and is booked in for her next swim on Saturday.

Busy day at work yesterday. Lovely day and once everyone had got over the pain of losing the rugby to France they came out in their droves to cheer themselves up by buying some pretty plants to put in the garden. We were flat out putting them into bags and taking their money off them. Makes the day go so much faster when it's busy like that.

So enjoy the rest of your time on the island and we'll all look forward to hearing all about it when you manage to get hold of a computer, wherever that may be.
    Lots of love,
    Sue.

  3. Dear Sue and Julia,

Great to hear from you. Hope you are enjoying Wellington Julia and will get to see Rob when he does is bit qat Te Papa.

Sue, that is such good news about Lucy - hydrotherapy is such a good idea for Lucy, where did you come up with that idea? It is brilliant - well done. I see Daisy is giving her very best support! Well, what can you expect, she is like me, a natural coward and that is how she survived so long on the island! So, say hi to Lucy for me and hope she gets lots out of her swims.
    Lots of love. Ann

  4. So you've managed to find a computer I see, didn't think it would take you long.
Yes it's great about Lucy's swimming therapy. I'd read that swimming was one of the best things for cruciate injuries and when we went to the homeopathic vet at Henderson I asked him about it. He said it would be really good for her and better than the brace idea. Then I remembered that dog wash place at Albany had a hydrotherapy pool. Do you remember, we went out there ages ago when it first opened and thought how great it was? You can go there and wash your dog yourself and they have proper dog washing cubicles at waist level.
So Friday I rang and asked them all about it, and hey presto Monday we're there for our first session. How's that for decisive action from yours truly? Don't see that too often. I'm sure it's going to be a great help in building up her leg muscles that are looking rather wasted at the moment.
Yes, Daisy was a big help and who can blame her for not wanting to get too close to the pool. After all it was full of water and that's not really her favourite substance. She'd rather sit back and watch from a distance.
But sounds as if you're enjoying it and I'm sure it's very beautiful there.
Have lots of fun and enjoy,
    much love,
    Sue.xx
